The
Maya Calendar 2004 - 2005
by The Maya World Studies Center (Centro
de Estudios del Mundo Maya) is a Maya - English calendar that
covers 13 months, i.e. from January to December 04 and January
2005. Our Maya Calendar is composed of two sections which
can be separated; thus it is planned to be useful beyond the
13 months mentioned before.
The
first section presents information about the Maya
Calendar that does not change from year to year and
can be saved for future reference. This section is actually
a card which measures 12 by 12 inches (30 by 30 centimeters)
and is color printed on heavy, quality stock. The front cover
presents a drawing of the Maya Calendar and
is a synthesis of all its elements. This card opens to show
2 printed pages inside that give general information about
the calendar, its glyphs and numbers, the time periods, the
Tzolkin and Haab
calendars, and the Calendar Round and also
explains how the calendar works. The back cover has the traditional
Song to the Sun in several languages.
The
second section is made of the pages of the 12 months of the
2004 Gregorian calendar widely used today, plus an additional
page for January of 2005. In these pages the day cells contain,
besides the usual information, the Maya glyphs and numerals
expressing the corresponding Tzolk'in
and Haab Maya Calendar dates,
graphics of the Moon's phases, the beginning of the seasons,
listings of solar and lunar eclipses, plus the initial date
of the Haab Maya year that occurs
within 2004.
Our
calendar is also available in Spanish, French and German.
The Maya World Studies Center asks for a
contribution to send you this fine and useful hanging calendar
that is also a unique and exceptional gift.
